It’s our birthday!
Community Toolbox Canberra, the ACT’s first “Library of Things” opened its doors on Saturday, 6th November 2021. Since then our inventory, mostly donated by the community, has grown to over 800 items and we have completed over 4000 loans! Over 500 Canberrans have enjoyed the opportunity to borrow rather than buy the things the need for projects and adventures from hanging a picture to building a deck to making pasta to seeing the balloon festival from the water.
Our monthly repair cafe has also been a huge success with kilos and kilos of items saved from landfill and given another chance at life.
What plans do we have for the next year or two? We’re looking at expanding our locations including the possibility of a mobile ‘tool bus’ servicing the Canberra region. We are also introducing a program of workshops to learn how to use the tools in the library, repair and mending skills and creating handy projects. Stay tuned via our email newsletter to find out what is coming up.
And, if you haven’t been in to see what is on offer, drop in during opening hours and talk to our lovely volunteers. Opening hours are currently Thursday evening between 4pm and 7pm and Saturday morning between 10am and 1pm.
